ESPN's Stephen A. Smith assesses the panic meter for the Lakers after losing to the Clippers. Personally, I think that it's still early to be worrying, but I am more shamed and disgusted than anything else. With the obscene amount of money the Lakers have paid for their starting five alone--close to 100$ million--it is embarrassing to see such a team play so poorly considering the amount of money invested and the superstar power that they have.
They played absolutely poor during the preseason and just seemed extremely lackadaisical in their first regular season match-up against a far weaker Portland Trailblazers team and lost. They then got humiliated by a hobbling Dallas Mavericks team who were without its two best big men, Dirk Nowitzki and Chris Kaman. This poor shameful play is completely inexcusable, especially for a storied team such as the Lakers. Hopefully, they will clue in that they are playing for real and give fans what they have been waiting for--a dominant team on its way to another NBA title.
