Sasha Vujacic, in his first game with the team, scored 13 of his 14 points in the first half, while Bertans hit 9 of his 12 in the crucial fourth quarter run. Decimated by injuries to start the season, Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul completed an inspirational comeback story with a 64-55 home win over Partizan NIS Belgrade on Friday to claim the fourth and last playoff spot, the first in club history, from Top 16 Group F. A packed crowd of 11,400 at Abdi Ipecki Arena was on its feet all night long to will their team to victory and a 7-7 record in Top 16, good for a fourth-place tie with Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar. Galatasaray won their tie-break by virtue of a better points difference in their Top 16 group (+7) than Lokomotiv (-17) and will now face FC Barcelona in the best-of-five playoffs starting Tuesday in Spain.

Manuchar Markoishvili, who missed 16 games earlier in the season, paced the winners with 16 points in 34 minutes. He is the only Galatasaray player of four who were injured in the first month of Euroleague play to return yet. Furkan Aldemir hit 6 of 6 two-pointers for 13 points and pulled 7 rebounds for the winners, while Zoran Erceg had 13 and 6, respectively. Galatasaray's defense uniformly shut down Partizan's scorers as Davis Bertans, Joffrey Lauvergne and Bogdanovic scored 11 each, while Sasha Pavlovic added 10.

In a battle between Turkish Airlines Euroleague powerhouses that went down to the wire, Real Madrid locked up home-court advantage in the playoffs by edging Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv 76-77 at Nokia Arena on Thursday. Madrid improved to 10-2 in Group F and managed to clinch at least a second-place finish in the group. Maccabi dropped to 7-5 and remains third in the group. Sergio Rodriguez paced the winners with 21 points with 11-of-11 free throw shooting. Nikola Mirotic added 17 while Ioannis Bourousis had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Madrid. Devin Smith led Maccabi with 23 points, including one of the longest baskets in competition history - a 22-meter prayer at the end of the third quarter. Alex Tyus had 16 points on 8-of-8 two-point shooting and 11 rebounds for Maccabi, but missed a free throw with 2.3 seconds left that would have tied it.

The Turkish champion won its third consecutive game and remains in at least a share of fourth place in Group F with a 6-6 record, while already-eliminated Zalgiris dropped to 1-11. Arroyo scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half, and dished 7 assists. Hairston had 16 points plus 8 rebounds, Milan Macvan added 13 points, while Aldemir collected a double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds in victory. Justin Dentmon, like Arroyo, netted 17 of his 19 after halftime. Martynas Pocius scored 14, Arturas Milaknis 12 on 4-for-4 from three-point range, while Robertas Javtokas had 10 points in defeat.

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes of devastating injures this season, Galatasaray Liv Hospital moved into a tie for Group F's last playoffs spot when it held of FC Bayern Munich for a 76-69 victory before 10,000 adoring fans in Istanbul on Friday. The victory forged a three-way tie for fourth place with Munich and Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar, all with 5-6 records and three games left in the Top 16. Among the three, however, Galatasaray enjoys a tie-break advantage due to its two victories over Munich and one over Lokomotiv.

Carlos Arroyo masterminded Friday's win by scoring 16 points and dishing 11 assists, a Galatasaray club record in the Euroleague. Pops Mensah-Bonsu and Malik Hairston followed with 14 points each for the winners, who made 23 of 37 two-point shots, or 62%. The result leaves the two teams tied for fifth place in Group F with 4-6 records, trailing Bayern Munich by one win for fourth place. Arroyo, whose three-pointer earlier in the quarter had also put his team in front, finished with 14 points. Manuchar Markoishvili -- in his first game back from an Achilles tendon injury in October -- led the visitors with 19 points on 5-of-8 three-point shooting and Mailik Hairston added 10. Derrick Brown finished with 19 points and Mantas Kalnietis scored 14 points and dished 7 assists in defeat. Lokomotiv outrebounded Galatasray 40-29, but struggled with poor three-point shooting (3 of 15; 20%.)
