The +Los Angeles Clippers are no longer also-rans with +Blake Griffin and +Chris Paul while the +Los Angeles Lakers and +Kobe Bryant are aging! Who will run the city in the near future? Personally I don't believe the Clippers will EVER own LA. Even last season, when they had owned the Pacific Division, all the attention was still on the Lakers and how poorly they were doing rather than the Clippers having the best winning record in franchise history. I don't even think a championship title will do it either, because that will never compare to the number of titles that the Lakers have won--ten titles in the past thirty years ALONE. The Clippers may be the flavor of the month for NOW, but the city of Los Angeles will ALWAYS be draped in Purple and Gold.
Even if something cataclysmic happened such the the roof of the +STAPLES Center collapsing during a Laker game killing everyone in the building would not cut the Lakers' hold on the denizens of LA. The legend is simply too strong and can never be destroy no matter what happens--kind of like that movie, +We Are Marshall where the whole football team dies in a plane crash, but still managed to return a force in college football nonetheless. The Clippers will ALWAYS be in the Lakers' shadow no matter how many titles Chris Paul and company win--if they EVER win one, by the way. They'll always be the Ashley Simpson to Lakers' Jessica--no matter how pretty, talented, and successful they are, they'll never reach up to the status of their older sibling.
That's my take anyway--what do you think? You can see more of +JRSportBrief right here on +Slap Dog Hoops and please tell him that "Slappy sent you." PEACE!!
